For the past 30 days, the world has been excited by different images of a superstar colt – Exxalt. A campaign – 30 Days and 30 Nights – has inspired, interested and intrigued people. The different concept, the different photographs, have all celebrated the greatness of Exxalt. And now, here at The Arabian Magazine, we are delighted to be able to share with you the video of this mesmerising two-year-old colt.
Exxalt is owned and bred by Francis Butler, Sybil and Jeff Collins, and Kay and James Smith, and he has spent his whole life at Butler Farms, North Carolina, home of Ted Carson Training Center.
But who is Exxalt? He is the latest star in a stellar line of champions, being sired by none other than the 2014 European Triple Crown winner, Excalibur EA. Two years ago, this dynamic stallion won Gold at the All Nations’ Cup, Aachen; the European Championships; and the Paris World Championships, to take the coveted Triple Crown title. Excalibur EA is, of course, from the great sireline that goes back to Padron (Patron x Odessa by Bright Wings), down through the sons Padrons Psyche, Magnum Psyche, the ‘champion maker’ WH Justice and Shanghai EA.
While his sire line is incredible, Exxalt’s damline is equally compelling. He is out of Vesperra, sired by the hugely admired US-bred stallion SF Veraz (by Gazal Al Shaqab). His dam in turn is Veronica GA, a Versace daughter whose sons have gone on to take titles the world over. Vesperra’s damline brings in the straight Egyptian element through LF Triumphant Star (Thee Desperado x Princess Tammen by Tammen). There is little doubt that this combination of bloodlines, blending Padron and Gazal Al Shaqab with Egyptian blood, is part of the secret that has led to the success of Exxalt.
Exxalt is owned and bred by Francis Butler, Sybil and Jeff Collins, and Kay and James Smith, and he has spent his whole life at Butler Farms, North Carolina, home of Ted Carson Training Center. Exxalt was the first son to show by Excalibur, and he was presented at the 2015 Scottsdale All-Arabian Horse Show. Competing in the strong yearling colt classes in the International Section, Exxalt commanded and not only won, but went on to take the International Gold Yearling Male Championship with ease.
It was Ted that came up with the 30 Days… concept, and he says that the reaction has been impressive. “I have had messages from people dreaming of Exxalt, and wondering what the next photograph will show. It has been a lot of fun and a lot of hard work, but it has been great to do something on such a huge international level with Exxalt. We all really believe in him – and now, through The Arabian Magazine, we are sharing his video with the world. Day 31!”
With his good body, expressive eye, super length of neck and natural presence, you can be sure that Exxalt will continue to captivate. Astute breeders in the United States booked breedings to him from the limited supply available, and his first foal crop from specially selected mares is due next year. With Exxalt, it is definitely a case of ‘watch this space’. His is a journey that has only just begun.
