Our cover star for September and the printed publication, The Arabian Breeders’ Magazine, is the incredible Durrat Albidayer.

It was almost one year ago that the mesmerising filly Durrat Albidayer made her debut at the Privilege Open House. Bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qassimi, Durrat Albidayer is the latest superstar to come from Albidayer Stud in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Shown just once, to date, Durrat Albidayer took the show-ring by storm to take the Gold Yearling Filly title at the Cannes, part of the Global Champions Arabians Tour. As she gets ready to make her Aachen debut, all eyes will surely be upon her.

At the open houses held after the 2023 All Nations’ Cup, there was one foal who everyone was talking about – the next generation for Albidayer Stud. This was their utterly enchanting filly Durrat Albidayer, sired by Jyar Meia Lua and out of the stud’s champion mare, A Vision MI.

Albidayer Stud has a long and rich history of breeding world-class horses. Mozn Albidayer (SMA Magic One x Mattaharii), Raoud Albidayer (SMA Magic One x DL Marielle), and Basmah Albidayer (Fadi al Shaqab x Bidayer) are just a few of their homebreds who have shone the world over. And the newest name to be added to the star roster is Durrat Albidayer.

Foaled last June, Durrat Albidayer is out of their Australian-bred mare, A Vision MI. A multiple champion in her native Australia, where she was bred by Mulawa Arabians. A Vision MI was unanimous Australian National Champion Yearling Filly as well as East Coast Yearling Filly before Sheikh Mohammed and Manager Dawn Martin saw her potential and added her to the stables of Albidayer Stud. Gold Junior Female titles followed at the 2019 Sharjah International Arabian Horse Show and Dubai International Arabian Horse Championships, as well as Bronze at the All Nations’ Cup. A very feminine chestnut mare, foaled in autumn 2016 – the Australian spring – A Vision MI is by one of Mulawa’s top breeding stallions in recent years, Allegiance MI (Magnum Forty Four x Audacia), a stallion whose daughters are becoming exceptional broodmares in their own right. Meanwhile, A Vision MI is out of the DA Valentino (Versace x DA Love) daughter, Always an Angel (SK Shakla Khan x Angel of Fame).

Durrat Albidayer’s sire, meanwhile, is the stallion of the moment, Jyar Meia Lua, bred by the late Lenita Perroy and owned by La Movida Arabians in Austria. This eleven-year-old flashy, exotic bay captivates every time you see him – he is one of those Arabian horses who truly has to be seen in the flesh, just like is daughter Durrat Albidayer. Jyar Meia Lua is already an internationally acclaimed sire, with the 2022 World Champion Yearling Filly, Aisha al Sheikh (ex Algamra by AJ Portofino) among his many successful progeny. Sired by RFI Maktub (Altam Yshmayl x RFI Cyntilation), Jyar Meia Lua is out of Jiullya el Jamaal, sired by Ali Jamaal (Ruminaja Ali x Heritage Memory) and out of one of Lenita’s most treasured mares, Jullye el Ludjin (Ludjin el Jamaal x NV Justa Dream).

Our first glimpse of Durrat Albidayer came during the presentation at Privilege SFQ in Belgium after the All Nations’ Cup – a must-visit on anyone’s list. As part of the presentation, A Vision MI was shown along with her foal, who was with a recipient mare. From the moment people saw Durrat Albidayer, they were enchanted. An incredibly beautiful and feminine bay filly foal, Durrat Albidayer oozed confidence, and she took the vast crowd in her stride – they were all there to see her, after all!

Like all Albidayer horses, Durrat Albidayer was allowed to grow up first before she took the show-ring. Just a week shy of being a year old, this bay beauty made her debut at the Global Champions Arabians Tour in Cannes, where she commanded her yearling filly class to win with 92.57 points, a full point and a half ahead of her nearest rival. Her scored included an incredible fifteen 20s – six for type, eight for head/neck, and one for movement. Come the Yearling Filly Championship, eight of the eleven judges awarded Durrat Albidayer Gold, resulting in what is sure to be the first of many golden garlands to come her way.

Durrat Albidayer truly is a special filly. She has that je ne said quoi that makes her stand out, and she is certainly a star in the making. She oozes quality and you just cannot you’re your eyes off her. Durrat Albidayer underlines A Vision MI’s place as an incredible broodmare for Albidayer Stud. Rayeq Albidayer, by another of the stud’s superstars, Saif Albidayer (Excalibur EA x Nesj el Markhisa), is Durrat Albidayer’s maternal half-brother and he was named Silver Junior Male Champion at the 2024United Crown Cup as a two-year-old.

The All Nations’ Cup in Aachen will see Durrat Albidayer return to the show-ring, and I have no doubt that all eyes will be upon her. Beautiful, elegant, refined, and undeniably feminine, Durrat Albidayer is truly enchanting, and I am not alone in looking forward to seeing her shine.
