This feature first appeared in The Arabian Magazine in March 2014, and the cover remains one of my favourites.
Kanz Albidayer was born to be a champion. His illustrious pedigree is written with some of the best that the breed has to offer and his genetic brilliance is now continuing to the next generation. Kanz has that star quality, combined with classic type that makes him timeless, and coupled with his famed exotic face and charisma, Kanz Albidayer is without doubt one of the hottest young sires of the time. He was the first foal to be born from the enchanting DL Marielle¸ herself a full sister to the hugely successful and highly decorated show horse Marajj. Kanz has taken much of his structure from this amazing mare, and he is sired by the most successful producing son of ‘champion maker’ WH Justice, Ajman Moniscione.
Kanz Albidayer rose to stardom at just six months of age at the UAE Bred Show where he was named unanimous Junior Gold Champion Colt before going on to take Silver at the Abu Dhabi International, and Gold Championship titles in Ajman, Sharjah International and at the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championships, the mecca of the Middle Eastern shows. As a yearling in Europe, Kanz continued to set show-rings on fire taking the European Futurity at the Elran Cup, as well as titles at Menton and the All Nations’ Cup. As a two-year-old, he continued his winning ways with Silver in Dubai and then, in his last junior year, he was again awarded Gold Champion at the Abu Dhabi International and Dubai International Shows. Without doubt, he has one of the most impressive show records of any colt in recent years.
Albidayer Stud is proud to be able to boast that they have bred a stallion they have faith and belief in, and it’s this that makes Kanz Albidayer so dear to their heart; it is one thing to go out and lease or buy a winner but something quite different to breed such a champion. But with every stallion, his true greatness is measured by his success as a sire. Kanz bred just eight mares as a three-year-old and the following year, his foals made their first appearances. It soon became clear that, like his forefathers before him, this stallion was going to make an impact on the Arabian horse breed. His name was on the tip of everyone’s tongues as his first daughter was named French National Champion Foal. Then, the world waited with baited breath for his foals to enter the arenas of the Arabian Gulf where the crème de la crème are showcased; again, Kanz’s progeny came up trumps. Burkan Albidayer (ex Bidayer) has now been named twice Silver Champion and while his exquisite daughter, Nisreen Albidayer (ex Nismat Albidayer) was awarded a Bronze Champion on her first outing.

The future looks bright for Kanz Albidayer as 2014 will see some of the finest broodmares that the world has to offer foal to him, and they are certain to be future jewels. In an ever-changing world where the show-rings dictate the latest fads, just remember that classic beauty never goes out of fashion.
