After twenty amazing years of publishing The Arabian Magazine and The Arabian Breeders’ Magazine, it is time to pause and reflect. The world has changed so much since 2004 and while I remain a forceful advocate for the printed magazine, the online world is now the one most people live in. Social media, websites, instant news, video – there is an entire world out there existing in the ‘now’. While printed publications still very much have a place in this world, with their longer timescales and rising costs, they are no longer the first choice for many.
This twenty-year anniversary edition is making its debut back in the Porte de Versailles for the Paris World Championships – where The Arabian Magazine made its debut all those years ago. Now seems to be the right time to take stock. Since 2010, we have had a virtual presence with TheArabianMagazine.Com, and this has grown exponentially in recent years. When the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world in 2020, we worked hard to build up TheArabianMagazine.Com and to keep the community feel found in the printed magazine alive. Our hard work paid off, and TheArabianMagazine.Com has won three awards in the past two years, being the leading Arabian horse website in the world. This is an incredible accolade and one we don’t take lightly.
Our printing ethos has expanded to include books. We published Ekstern I Tribute to a King last year under the banner S² International Productions with lifelong friend Scott Benjamin, and we have Sigi – The Story of a Trailblazer coming out in 2025. In addition, we have a further seven books in the pipeline.
With my own books, including the Magical Mister Mishkins series and the Arabian Storm Series – now out under the name Adeleide Halsey – plus other Arabian horse book projects I am working on, there already are a lot of words ready to share with the world.
So, with a mixture of excitement and sadness, I am sharing with you that the printed Arabian Breeders’ Magazine will be taking a break. Not forever, just for now. Print is incredibly hard – and I have been a one woman force in the industry for twenty years, which is no small feat. Our team is tiny, and we have reached around the world, and around again, many times over.
I have little doubt in my mind that I will get to September next year and start planning an end-of-year edition – it is in my blood – but I don’t want to make a promise I may not be able to keep.
However, one promise I can make is that you can find the same high quality content you have enjoyed within these pages on TheArabianMagazine.Com and shared across social media. I hope to see you there.
