Welcome to the first edition of The Arabian Breeders’ Magazine! To write those words puts a smile on my face as what was just a dream back in May has now become a reality. You are holding the inaugural issue of a new way at looking at the world of the Arabian horse – a way that celebrates breeders, breeding, mares, stallions, geldings, everything that represents the true heart and soul of the Arabian horse. And yes, that does include you.
I have been overwhelmed by the response to this new publication, and it seems as if there are many that are looking for a new and fresh approach to our favourite passion – the Arabian horse. I know that I am incredibly passionate about breeders and breeding programmes, and how they have developed over time. With my brilliant team of writers, as well as your own input, I am looking forward to sharing as much information as possible through these pages in the coming months and years.
The Arabian Breeders’ Magazine is part of The Arabian Magazine family, and this is where we will share with you features from some of the most exciting Arabian breeding farms around the world, as well as the most humble stories from those one-horse owners that have done it all. There is much more to the printed magazine than this, but at its heart are the breeders, the horses, and the history.
Also part of The Arabian Magazine family is The Romance of the Arabian Horse, a blog that will capture moments in time that move our very souls. We have already published some great and emotional stories, looking at horses such as Pilot and Aboud. Bookmark www.theromanceofthearabianhorse.com now and enjoy a touching journey through our connection with the Arabian breed.
The Arabian Magazine itself still exists, and it is now online only at www.thearabianmagazine.com. This is the dynamic, real-time part of the family, one that is instant, fresh and full of Arabian horses! We have a host of features planned, and have already shared two cover horses on this page, Exxalt and Mozn Albidayer.
In essence, that is the heart of my new direction. A vibrant change that responds the to changing world around us, a world that has changed considerably since The Arabian Magazine first appeared back in 2005. This new direction encompasses the whole range that the Arabian horse brings us, through different media, with the flagship being this wonderful quarterly coffee table publication.
In this inaugural edition, we share the thoughts of some of the top breeders around the world; we look at the history behind Al Aryam Arabians and their horses that we see in the show-ring today; we explore the heritage of some famous names in Egyptian breeding history; and we have three different breeder profiles for you to enjoy. In addition, there is a small element of the show world through the Celebration of Champions, a different look at some of those horses that have excelled in the show-ring this summer.
I always believe that to move forward, you have to look back – and that is exactly what we will be doing through the pages of this publication. What is inside this edition is just a small taste of what is to come in the future. Prepare to be inspired.
