It gives us immense pleasure to welcome the WAHO family back to Australia for the WAHO 2019 Conference. The entire Arabian community in Australasia is eagerly anticipating this global gathering. The Arabian Horse Society of Australia has partnered with our neighbour across the Tasman Sea, the New Zealand Arabian Horse Society, to create an extraordinary 18-day programme to combine the business of the main WAHO General Assembly with the pleasure of several stud tours and horse presentations, varied sightseeing, camaraderie and entertainment. We feel sure you will find this edition of the bi-annual WAHO family get-together to be both memorable and enlightening.
You are strongly encouraged to arrive in time to join in a selection of Pre-Conference Tours and activities in Sydney and the surrounding region, from 1-4 February. The definite highlight will be the very special afternoon and evening planned for the Saturday evening, with the Australian Arabian Ambassadors Presentation and VIP Welcome Dinner at the East Coast Championships Finals. This evening looks set to be a stellar opening to the WAHO Conference Down Under, as previous WAHO Trophy winners will be paraded, among many other Arabians and derivatives, before the best of the best vie for the coveted East Coast Championships.
You are also invited to immerse yourself in your choice of three full-day tours on 3 and 4 February: The Sydney Experience, Blue Mountains in Style, or Spectacular Sydney. Half-day tours visiting both Bondi Beach and the Sydney Opera House are also offered.
The enchanting village of Terrigal – the name deriving from the indigenous Aboriginal word meaning place of little birds – is situated in a slice of paradise that is of great significance to the local Aboriginal tribes. The region is blessed with pristine beaches, stunning coastline, lush bushland and undeniable energy. Located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Terrigal will provide the backdrop for the primary activities of the WAHO 2019 Conference. The Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific, set in a spectacular location just across from Terrigal Beach with panoramic views of the South Pacific Ocean, will serve as the principal Conference venue hotel. The main Conference Schedule starts on Monday 4 February, with the welcome dinner taking place on the evening of Tuesday 5 February. We look forward to greeting you all at this Aussie-style BBQ, complete with authentically Australian entertainment.
The WAHO General Assembly officially opens on the morning of Wednesday 6 February. The General Assembly, featuring guest speakers from around the world, concludes on Friday 8 February, with a Gala Dinner that evening, complete with entertainment.
A very special day is planned between the two days of the General Assembly. On Thursday 7 February, there will be a chance for you to experience the world-class horses and hospitality of Simeon Stud and Mulawa Arabian Stud. Both farms are important breeders of the Arabian horse on the world stage, and a chance to visit these farms will be an early highlight for those attending the WAHO Conference.
Dedicated breeders in both Australia and New Zealand will then open their doors to you during an ambitious Post-Conference Tour schedule, carefully crafted to share many of the best Arabians and Arabian Derivatives in Australasia with our WAHO family. From Saturday 9 through to Sunday 17 February, nine sensational days of stud tours, special presentations and stimulating sight-seeing will take place. You will have the opportunity to discover the best of Australia’s Horse Capital in the Hunter Valley, the greater Melbourne region in Victoria or the sunshine and surf of Queensland’s Gold Coast, rounded off with the unique appeal of New Zealand. There, you enjoy the added bonus of the affable competition and laid-back atmosphere of the New Zealand National Arabian Championships.
Our dedicated Conference website – www.waho2019australia.com – is being updated regularly. Please visit the site to enjoy a wealth of additional information, as well as many links to more details of the places we will be visiting.
We are confident that you will find your visit to Australasia the ideal opportunity to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime in the company of like-minded people with a shared passion for the Arabian horse. Plan to spend your February with us, take advantage of the amazing experiences we have arranged during the WAHO 2019 Conference, and discover all that Australia and New Zealand have to offer.
We can promise you a generous dose of authentic Aussie hospitality, spectacular scenery and amazing wildlife, as well as an inspiring collection of the immensely talented homebred Arabians and Arabian derivatives of which we are incredibly proud.
Taking part in a WAHO Conference is a unique chance to appreciate the extraordinary bond formed by these horses, the essential connection that brings us all together from distant shores and different cultures, in friendship and in celebration of the Arabian horse.
