One of the most popular horses currently on the showing circuit is Eralda, an extraordinarily beautiful, feminine and graceful filly. Bred in Poland, and with a pure Polish tail female line adding that extra something to this elegant filly, Eralda is lovingly owned by HH Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of Al Shira’aa Arabians in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
Foaled in 2016, this beauty filly was bred by Krzysztof Gozdzialski of Falborek Arabians in Poland. From the moment she was born, it was clear that Eralda was special. A rich bay, with wonderfully expressive eyes, an extreme but beautiful face, and natural carriage, Eralda oozed charisma.
It wasn’t long before she came under the attention of Sheikha Fatima, and very quickly, Eralda joined Al Shira’aa Arabians as one of their most prized treasures. At her first show, the Campeonato de Baleares, Eralda took the Gold Yearling Filly Championship and her path was set. In 2018, she continued to shine, taking the Gold Junior Female Championship at the European Championships amid strong competition. Eralda also took a very strong Bronze Junior Female title at the Abu Dhabi International Arabian Horse Show – a place where classes are deep and the standard is high.
Eralda has continued to shine this year, dancing her way around the show-ring to take the Silver Junior Female Championship at the Mediterranean and Arab Countries Arabian Horse Show in Menton. Again, this was an incredibly strong championship, and Eralda powered her way around the arena to take the title.
Everyone who comes into contact with this mare loves her. Indeed, Sheikha Fatima is so taken with Eralda that she has leased Enezja for two embryos this year, and it will be exciting to see the results in 2020.
The pedigree
Eralda is out of the mare Enezja, who is part of the famous Polish ‘E’ line family. Indeed, this line is found in both Eralda’s sire and dam, but to look at Enezja first. Her tail female line is one of the finest in breeding programmes around the world, and she goes back to the famed mare Emigracja (Palas x Emisja). Enezja is out of Espinezja (by Psytadel, who in turn is out of the mare Entaga, by Ganges (Monogramm x Garonna) and out of Entuza (Eukaliptus x Ekologia), thus underlining the strength of her pedigree. It is worth adding, Espinezja has been an amazing show mare, both in Europe and now the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with her new owner Tarig Mohammed Enaya. These results include second at both the King Abdulaziz Arabian Horse Championships in Dirab and at the Riyadh Arabian Horse Show, as well as third at the Prince Sultan Arabian Horse Festival. It is clear that this is a proven mare line, and it is little wonder that Eralda has that showiness that comes so naturally to the Polish bloodlines.
Enezja is sired by World Champion Marajj, a superb stallion who was one of the first progeny of Marwan al Shaqab (Gazal al Shaqab x Little Liza Fame) and out of the mare of distinction, RGA Kouress (Kouvay Bey x Angophora) – who is also a daughter of Eukaliptus. The influence of this stallion in Eralda’s pedigree is significant.
Looking to Eralda’s sire line, we have the superstar sire Emerald J. A famed son of multiple champion QR Marc (Marwan al Shaqab x Swete Dreams), Emerald J has taken Gold championship titles across the Middle East, including memorably at the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championships alongside his son, Gallardo J (ex Gomera J). What makes Emerald J so special for many, however, is that his dam is perhaps one of the most famous horses in the world and she brings another powerful Polish line to Eralda. This is Emandoria, one of the most revered mares in the world. This is a mare who has won it all, including European Triple Crown, Platinum World Champion, and a champion at all the major title shows across the Middle East. Emandoria is out of the mare Emanda (by Ecaho), a daughter of Emanacja – also a daughter of Emigracja but sired by Eukaliptus (Bandos x Eunice).
Combined together, the Polish lines – also found through Gazal al Shaqab’s dam, Kajora (Kaborr x Edjora) – with the might of Marwan al Shaqab sons has resulted in one phenotypically potent filly – and she is already passing these strengths on.
Earlier this year, Eralda had a foal by the incredible show horse FA El Rasheem (FA El Shawan x Virtuosa MLR), a colt who has surpassed expectations. Bred and owned by Al Shira’aa Arabians, this foal, named Herodotus Al Shiraa, has big shoes to step into, but with his proven pedigree and the genotype from both dam and sire lines flowing through his veins, there is little doubt that he, too, will shine.
Eralda’s sights are now set on the Paris World Championships, and this is a filly who is more than capable of holding her own. Eralda’s destiny is set on a path for greatness, and it will be exciting to see this unfold before our very eyes.
