National Stud Show 2017

The 2017 National Arabian Stud Horse Show, held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park between 15 and 19 November, had perfect weather for showing horses. It was overcast and cool, the rain mainly stayed away, and we had four days to showcase top Arabian and derivative horses to our international judge Ann Green along with Australian judges Vicki Reid and Yvonne Downs along with Lindy and Maureen Walker.

Thursday saw the junior Arabian derivative classes with quality horses in all classes. Overall Supreme Led was the very successful Arabian Warmblood gelding Lawless (Lord Larmarque x Halimas Amber Gem), for Stokes Sporthorses. The Senior Led Derivative was Kaspian CSH (Fever FF x Fantasy FF) owned by Kim Gibson.

Crack A Lackin – Jess greenhalgh Derivative winner, SA Maxwell Sash Winner, Lesley Dowey perpetual trophy winner and Champion led and Ridden Partbred Mare owned by Amy Geleedst.

The Junior Shiranna Sash winner was Elegance FF (Sir Charmed FF x Eternal Starr), a part-bred Arabian filly for Future Farms, and the Senior Shiranna Sash went to Karate Kid (Crave FF x Sia-Nara) for Jill Gregson of Burren-Dah Stud.

The Jess Greenhalgh Memorial Trophy for Purebreds was won by Georgio KA (Crave FF x Bint Georgie Girl), owned by Krishlah Arabians.

SA Maxwell Sash was won by Crack A Lackin (Gold N Wings x Terrell Ellitte), who also won Champion Led Part-bred Mare, The Kahllua Sash, The Ralvon Melody Sash, The Jess Greenhalgh Memorial Sash and then went on to win the Lesley Maxwell Dowey Perpetual Trophy! Crack A Lackin is owned by Amy Geleedst, and you could say that they had a very successful show! The Baskhan Sash was won by Karate Kid.


The much-anticipated purebred classes were run on Saturday afternoon with everyone eager to see the young purebreds and older stallions.

The Champion Yearling Colt was Allegion MI (Allegiance MI x Krystal MI) for Mulawa Stud; he is now owned by Mr Fengru Ji of China. The Champion Two-and-three-year-old Colt was the lovely black Quartz Hill Farm Dark by Design (Crave FF x Quartz Hill Farm Georgia Peach), who was also Champion Junior Colt, with Nevertire Viceroy (Fire Alert x Nevertire Lyonesse) collecting the Reserve for Anthony Warren.

Valencia FF (Crave FF x Beguine OH) was Champion Yearling Filly for Future Farms, with the typey grey Klassical Fame MI (Klass x Forever Fame) taking the Junior Champion Filly for Mulawa Arabians. Marwan’s Gold KA (RHR Heir of Marwan x Shannonbrook Sheena Gold) was Reserve Champion Filly for Khalid Arabians.

Nazaryan-Champion Purebred Stallion -Paul Hedges

The geldings were a clean sweep for Mulawa-bred horses and their new owners. Herald MI (Allegiance MI x MI Harmony) was Champion Yearling Gelding for Katie Smith, Parlance MI (Klass x Parada) was Junior Champion Gelding for Brittany Jessup with Kadet MI (Kavalle MI x Audacia) taking the Reserve Champion Junior Gelding for Sarah Watchorn. The Senior Champion Gelding was Allegiant MI (Allegiance MI x MI Angel) for Ricky Carver and Carlie Beer, who also won Champion Purebred Ridden by a Non-Pro and Reserve Champion Ridden Purebred Gelding.

Chance to Dance (Magnum Forty Four x Mulawa Chance) was the Champion Purebred Mare and eventual Supreme Purebred Exhibit for Mulawa Arabians with Lovetta MI (Konfidence MI x Love Potion M) Reserve Champion Purebred Mare, for Greg Liddle and Michael Marapodi.

The Supreme Ridden Newcomer and Novice Horse of the Show was won by Beechwood La Caste (Wesswoods Raven Caste x Royalwood Image) for Karma Park Stud.

The top award of Supreme Saddle Horse of the Show was won by Cheryl Edwards and purebred Arabian Chelleason Magnum’s Gold (Magnum Forty Four x Windella Golden Wings) from a top line-up of saddle horses.
