Continuing with our look back at previous cover stars of The Arabian Magazine, we have this stunning cover from July 2016 – the final issue of The Arabian Magazine in its original format. This remains one of my favourite covers.

Cover with Eden C

What a magnificent horse we have for our July cover – the incredible stallion, Eden C! This 11-year-old iridescent chestnut horse has wowed audiences around the world as he has won titles on three continents. Owned by Alsayed Stud, located outside of Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, founded by Abdulwahab and Khalid Alsayed and managed by Abdulaziz Albarghash, Eden C was bred in the United States by Coleal Farms. In his 11 years, Eden C has become one of the most admired and respected stallions in the show-ring, taking titles on three continents, as well as proving himself as a sire of note.

Eden C

Born in 2005, Eden C has achieved that rare thing in that not only he has a beautiful pedigree, he has matched it in terms of both showing and breeding. His sire was the fantastic stallion, Enzo, who passed away much too soon earlier this year. Enzo, a multiple champion stallion, including US National Champion as both a junior and senior, is a son of the living legend, Padrons Psyche (ex Kilika by Tamerlan out of Kilifa), in turn a son of the famed Padron (ex Odessa by Bright Wings out of Serinda) by Patron (Aswan x Podruga by Priboj). With the combination of the Russian, Crabbet and Polish lines, Enzo’s sireline is an enviable one and also one that has been proven, time and time again. The Polish lines are reinforced further through Enzo’s dam, RB Bey Shahmpane, both a daughter and granddaughter of Bey Shah (Bay El Bey x Star of Ofir by Bask), being out of Bey Shahdar (Bey Shah x Bold Darling out of Dar). Indeed, Eden C has three crosses to Bey Shah, considered to be one of the most important predominately Polish stallions in recent generations, as his maternal grandsire is also a son on Bey Shah.

Eden C

Looking to Eden C’s damline, we have the beautiful grey mare, Silken Sable. Her sire is the Bey Shah son, Genesis C (ex Passionn by Padron out of Salataire), also bred by Coleal Farms and also doubling up on the Padron line. The dam line adds Gainey lines to the mix, being out of Touch O Mink (AN Marretto by AN Malik out of Gai Parade) and out of Hallanys Mizahna (HMR Hallanys Mesaoud out of Tezahna).

From the moment he was born, Eden C was recognised as being a star. He took the US National Champion Yearling Colt title and from there, the accolades came. While still on US soil, he took the Champion Stallion title at both the Arabian Breeders’ World Cup in Las Vegas and the Scottsdale All-Arabian Horse Show. Having campaigned in Europe, Eden C was spotted by Abdulwahab and Khalid, and he joined the stables of Alsayed Stud.

The successful titles continued, now in the Middle East and Europe, and Eden C is a double Gold Champion Stallion at the Prince Abdulaziz International Arabian Horse Festival, having taken the honour for the second time this January. A Gold Senior Male Champion at the All Nations’ Cup, Eden C has also taken the Silver World Stallion Championship title in Paris. Eden’s powerful movement, great Arabian type, bold, charismatic and vibrant attitude, combined with his natural showiness, has helped make him a firm favourite among judges, breeders and admirers. While a strong and charismatic stallion, Eden C is also a sweet and gentle soul, happy to be surrounded by fans either during a presentation or while resting in his stable.

Eden C

As a sire, Eden has also shown his worth, with champion progeny found across the globe. AAS Elishahh (ex Sempre by Versace out of Tulle El Jamaal), US National Champion Colt and Arabian Breeders’ World Cup Supreme Champion Colt, and now standing in Belgium, is one of Eden’s most successful sons. The influence of Eden in Poland has also been well documented, with the 2015 Best in Show and Gold Senior Female Champion, Piniata (ex Pinga by Gazal Al Shaqab out of Pilar by Fawor), just one of many progeny there that have excelled. The cross of Eden C with the Polish bloodlines is particularly interesting With the Eden/Polish cross proving to be a good one, as Alsayed Stud is blessed with many Polish mares and they have produced beautiful fillies for them this breeding season.

There is no doubt that Eden C is approaching the prime of his life and he still has so much to offer. One thing is always for sure with Eden, however; that he always delights those watching, and he is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I know that I am not alone in saying that I cannot wait to see him shine in the show-ring once more.
