JAN CLARK - My two main passions in life are Arabian horses and endurance riding. I bought my first Arab, Za-Zaan (Legend of Europe Zellah) in 1978 and sadly lost him in 2006 on his 29th birthday. We started competing in endurance in 1984 and Ive been hooked ever since. I have competed and crewed all over the UK, and in France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Spain. Through the kindness and generosity of owners I have had the very good fortune to ride some excellent horses, including Kina Murrays Elleon (Galeon El-Era) and for the late Cheryl Logan the incomparable Khairho (Zourrak Kasbana) With luck 2008 will see me out and about competing my lovely young gelding Elliott (Premier El-Era), bred by Kina.WOLFF PHOTOGRAPHY - Equine PhotographyWolff Photography is the agency of Erwin de Wolff. He started riding horses at an early age and was very much into show-jumping. Ehab’s first admiration with Arabian horses began when he was 15 years old when a beautiful bay stallion called Narr (by Sattam) arrived at his local stables. Bred by the Royal Stables of Jordan, Narr captured Ehab’s heart. Graduating from school in 2003, Ehab went to Cairo to continue his education and his love for the Arabian horse grew. Here, he first heard the phrase “straight Egyptian” and he was totally captured by the breed. Having enjoyed riding straight Egyptians in Egypt, Ehab has never ridden another breed since. He describes his love for the Arabian as an addiction that will run in his veins forever. Ehab is delighted to be writing for The Arabian Magazine and looks forward to sharing his passions with the rest of the world.ERIC G JONES - From a very young age I have been a keen photographer and my equestrian work started as a hobby and grew to a full-time job. My main work is in endurance riding. I am at a domestic competition every weekend throughout the season from March to October - and I have travelled with British teams all over Europe to major international competitions. I undertake stud and yard visits and enjoy photographic portrait work - equine, canine and human! Another interest of mine is pastel portraiture and examples of my work can be found on my website.CAROL MAGINN - Carol has had a love affair with Arabian horses since she began riding at the age of four. Taught the essence of riding horses by a Spanish rider, she began her long journey with Arabians at the age of 18 and discovered the magic of this breed not long after. She bought her first Polish gelding and wanted to discover more about the roots of this fabulous horse. Clothilde has spent many years studying the history of the Arabian breed, but has focused on the Asil-bred horses and is dedicated to preserve the straight Egyptian Sheykh Obeyd horses. She is a European specialist in these old bloodlines and works to keep alive a network of devoted breeders and enthusiasts around the world. Her passion culminated in creating her own breeding farm with mainly Straight Babson horses. She insists on the sport and riding ability of the Arabian horse, maintaining their standards and ethereal beauty. A keen photographer, Clothilde always tries to capture the essence of the Arabian through simplicity. Clothilde wants to share her passion with as many people as possible and decided to write for The Arabian Magazine because she feels that Samantha has done a great job and that the magazine is one of the most interesting in the world today www.straightbabsons.comALICIA QUISPE-FLORESI have been involved with horses in general since I was 11 years old and spent many years working with young and temperamental horses. I enjoy writing and have been lucky enough to combine this with my passion for promoting fellow Arabian enthusiasts and reporting on events by writing for The Arabian Magazine since its inception in 2005.SUZANNE RESS - Suzanne Ress has been writing for most of her life, and as an equine journalist specializing in all aspects of the Arabian horse since 2003. In 1998 I bought my first two pure-bred Arabians Aliesha and Sweet Simplicity who became the foundation mares of my Zayin Arabian Stud. In 1999, I raced them both as an owner/trainer/jockey and won The Heart of England Maiden Stakes at Stratford with Sweet Simplicity, fulfilling my lifelong ambition to ride a winner racing. The stud now numbers nearly 11 horses and is based in Charlwood, Surrey, with various bloodlines representing influential endurance and racing families. I will have my first homebred runners racing in 2006. I have been the Arabian Racing Organisation's Official Reporter since 2002 and I also write for the weekly national paper The Weekender.SWEET PHOTOGRAPHY - Peter and Marilyn Sweet have been photographing Arabian horses for the past 30 years and are regularly seen in the show-ring at events across the country.
