Amateur Photography Competition 2009

Entries are flooding in for The Arabian Magazine 2009 Amateur Photography Competition – please keep them coming.

Open to all non-professional photographers around the world, this is your chance to showcase your talent for photographing Arabian horses. The competition is being run in two sections, one for those aged 24 years old and under and one for those aged 25 and over.

The competition runs from 1 March to 31 October and all amateur photographers are invited to send in photographs they have taken of Arabian horses and Arabian scenes around the world.

With more and more people taking up Arabian horse photography, this is a great chance to become a newly discovered talent and win some amazing prizes in the process. The prizes on offer this year are:

* The winners of each section will have their image on the cover of the 2011 Arabian Magazine calendars and will also receive a framed copy of their winning image with The Arabian Magazine livery around it

* Sweet Photography in the UK are again offering their services to the winner of the junior category, enabling the winner to spend some time with them at an outdoor show during 2010, learning more about how to improve their technique, take action shots and more besides

* International photographer Erwin Escher will again share his immense photographic knowledge with the winner of the senior section and spend time with them where possible to assist developing their skills

* Australian artist and photographer Ainslie Gilles is offering an amazing prize whereby she will capture the winner’s photograph on canvas or, if they prefer, she will paint their own horse or their favourite horse for them. This is a truly once in a lifetime prize and we are thrilled to be able to offer it to our readers. Ainslie has generously offered to do a painting for each section, should the sections not be merged

* The Arabian Magazine goody bags are also on offer as runner-up prizes in each section.

To enter the competition, please send your photographs by e-mail to info@thearabianmagazine.com with “Competition” as the subject line or send in the post to The Arabian Magazine Photo Competition, Ivy Cottage, The Street, Hardwick, Norwich, Norfolk, NR15 2AB, UK. Please include your full name and postal address with your entry and if you are entering the junior section, please include your date of birth.

Competition rules

1. A maximum of three entries are allowed per person.

2. All photographs must be sent at a minimum of 300dpi.

3. All entrants must be a subscriber to The Arabian Magazine at the time of judging.

4. All entrants must be non-professional photographers and must not have accepted payment of any kind for use of their photographs.

5. Employees of The Arabian Magazine and those donating prizes may not enter the competition.

6. The judges’ decision is final.

7. The Arabian Magazine does not take responsibility for any photographs which go missing in the post.

8. Photographs will not be returned unless a SAE is included.

9. Entry into the competition entitles The Arabian Magazine to publish your photograph in future issues of the publication, on their website or in other related media.

10. Entrants names will be published alongside their photographs.

11. The winner and runners up will be notified in writing by 30 November 2009.

12. Any travel expenses must be covered by the winners.

13. No cash alternatives to the prizes will be offered.

14. The organisers reserve the right to merge the categories if there are insufficient entries in either section.
