Al Shira’aa Arabian Horse Show Part II

Day two of Al Shira’aa Arabian Horse Show dawned and the chill was still in the air. Having learned my lesson from being cold the day before, I made sure I was a little more dressed for UK than UAE! The hospitality of the show was exceptional, and I must admit to being exceptionally well fed and watered during the show.

The first class of the day was the mares aged four-to-six, split into two sections with 19 horses forward in each section. The young mares were a treat for the eyes with some well-structured horses forward. The win went to D Seeneyyah (FA El Rasheem x Royal Emira), a multiple champion already this season. With a score of 92.38 points, D Seeneyyah is a balanced mare with great body and topline, and she is bred and owned by Dubai Arabian Stud. E.S. Sheikha claimed second with 92.25 points, a super typey mare and once she settled, she moved well. She is by SMA Magic One (Psytadel x Majidah Bint Pacha), out of Mahjesty (WH Justice x Mahity el Jamaal), and is bred and owned by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Majid Al Qassimi. The exceptionally pretty RK Sadeem (Magid Moniscione x BV Especially Stivana) scored four 20s for head and neck, taking third place with a total 92.13 points for her owner Jamal Mohammad Saleh Al Balooshi. She was bred by Shazin Stud in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Section B was won by an utterly charming mare with bags of personality. This was Manaret Babel (AJ Marzan x Munirah Albidayer) a free-moving mare who scored three 20s for movement. Owned by Hossa Arabian Horse Stud, she was bred by Babel Arabian Horse Stud. Tying with first place, but losing out on movement, was D Hanem. By Marajj (Marwan al Shaqab x RGA Kouress) and out of Frasera Mashara (Shahil x MB Madora), she is very like her sire, compact with excellent type. Bred by Dubai Arabian Stud, she is now owned by Allan Mahmoud Mohammed Allan. Another Dubai Arabian Stud-bred mare took third place with 92.13 points. This was D Hala (BS Raeed x Rohara Hallmarc), owned by Khaled Seddiq Fatehali Abdulla Alkhajeh.

The next mare class was for those aged seven-to-nine years of age, and the 15 entries included some fabulous horses. The eventual winner was elegant, tall, refined and she moved fluidly. This was FS Venezuela by Vervaldee (Versace x Giavanna) out of FS Madeline (Magnum Psyche x Christina JD), bred by Frank Spönle and owned by Khaled Ghanem Mubarak Al Ameiri, and she scored 92.13 points. Prosaria (Kabstad x Prosna) scored 92 points to take second place. Bred by the Michałów State Stud in Poland, she is owned by Yousif Ahmed Abdullatif Ahmed Al Ali. The powerful moving AJ Panamera, another Vervaldee daughter but this time out of Eagleridge Passionata (Sanadik el Shaklan x River Oak Dimity) took third place with 91.75 points. Bred by the Ajman Stud, she is owned by Ahmed Hamad Sulaiman M.A. Alyammahi.

The mares aged 10 years and over was split into two sections, with 15 forward in each. Section A saw Al Aryam Abla storm the ring putting on an excellent show, scoring five 20s across type, head/neck, and movement to win with 92.5 points in total. Owned and bred by Al Aryam Arabians, Al Aryam Abla is by Marwan al Shaqab (Gazal al Shaqab x Little Liza Fame) and out of SF Hossana (ZT Remaj x ZT Jossny). Ametista al Jade (Mirage LM x Tahyla HVP) took second place for owner Mohmed Ahmed Abdullatif Ahmed Al Ali with a score of 92.38 points. This grey mare was bred by Moacyr de Almeida Filho in Brazil. Ofra D’Arab KA travelled from her home of Knocke Arabians in Belgium to take third place with a score of 92 points, including a 20 for movement. Sired by QR Marc (Marwan al Shaqab x Swete Dreams), she is out of OSO Axotica (Monogramm x Algoda).

The final mare class, the second section of mares aged 10 years and over, brought some superb movers forward. One cannot argue that the Polish blood really emphasises correct Arabian movement and there were some strong contenders in this section. However, the winner was a pure show horse, flagging her tail as she danced around the ring coupled with excellent type and a pretty head to score 92.88 points. This was El Sanadika IA by Sanadik el Shaklan (El Shaklan x Mohena) and out of Magnalina (Magnum Psyche x Elle Padron) bred by Lesley Jo Wilder of the USA and owned by Abdullah bin Fahad Al Haqbani of Tinhat Stud. Second place went to Camilia (Piaff x Calineczka), who moved beautifully to score 92.5 points. Bred by Białka State Stud in Poland, she is owned by Al Jazeera Arabian Horse Stud. In third with a score of 92 points was Om El Enigma by Al Lahab (Laheeb x The Vision HG) and out of Om el Bint Shaina (Sharem el Sheikh x Om el Shaina). She was typical Om El in type with that classic look of pure type. Bred by Om El Arab in the USA, Om El Enigma is owned by Al Remas Arabian Horse Stud, and she gave a good show and was very eye catching.

The last class of day two was the yearling colts, divided into two sections, the first with 20 forward and the second with 19. The winner of the first section was a horse I am certain we will be seeing much more of – Exagon OS. This was his first show and he captivated the whole arena – he was bred for the show-ring, and he flew round the ring, barely touching the ground, and possessed such type and quality with a pretty amazing topline for a yearling colt. His scores were outstanding – four 20s for type, three for head/neck, and five for movement, totalling 93.75 points. It was no surprise that he made most of the judges smile, he really is an exceptional young colt. Exagon OS is by Cyclone OS (RFI Farid x Inspired Najla) and out of Strastya OS (EKS Alihandro x AB Nastrapsy) and is bred and owned by Gestüt Osterhof of Germany. Another very typey, elegant and pretty colt took second place. This was Arjuwan Albidayer by AJ Marzan (AJ Portofino x Hed AB Maria) out of Allezandra Albidayer (SF Veraz x DA Elegantra) and he scored 92 points including a 20 each for type and head/neck. He is bred and owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saoud Al Qassemi of Albidayer Stud. Third place was taken by another super typey colt, D Shaheer (AJ Marzan x D Shahla), bred and owned by Dubai Arabian Stud, with a score of 91.75 points. This was a very strong class of colts.

Section B was won by a feminine looking colt AJ Ajban, one of the better AJ Kafu (Shanghai EA x AJ Kahayla) offspring I have seen and out of the pretty AJ Saphira (WH Justice x Shajaraa). Aj Ajban was elegant in the stand up and moved freely scoring, well across the board to win with a total of 92.25 points. Bred by the Ajman Stud, he is owned by Sheikh Abdullah bin Majed Al Qassemi. The very pretty Ghaly Al Hawajer by Dominic M (DA Vinci FM x Rosa la Valentina) and out of Ghalyah Al Hawajer (FA El Rasheem x Valentyna F) scored 91.75 points to take second place, including five 20s for head/neck and two 20s for type; he was a little unsettled on the trot and may well have taken the win if he was a little more relaxed. Ghaly Al Hawajer is bred and owned by Dr Ghanem Mohamad Obaid Al Hajri. Tying for second, but placing third on the type score, was Akram OS, who was very much like his sire Ajman Moniscione (WH Justice x Anthea Moniscione) in the face and out of Arcadya OS (EKS Alihandro x Lola OS). He is bred and owned by Gestüt Osterhof.

With the sun gone down, it was time to head back to the hotel to warm up and marvel on the beautiful Arabian horses we had seen that day.
